The latest 5G smartphone from the company was released in May last year. By September, the company had already shipped 2 million pieces. As at then, Samsung predicted it’s going to sell about 4 million more phones from September till December last year. However, sales exceeded this prediction, as the company sold 6 7 million within the period.
5G technology changing the landscape
5G technology is seen by many as a game-changing technology. It can dramatically boost the coverage and speed of wireless networks. The technology is a massive leap on the 4G technology because it runs up to 100 times faster than its predecessor.
Also, wi-Fi provides a good latency, but the latency offered by 5G technology is on another level. 5G technology is undoubtedly where the world is heading for fast phone and network connectivity. That’s the reason why many networks and phone companies are upgrading their services to provide coverage for 5G technology. Samsung is among the frontiers of this technology, as it has launched several 5G phones since last year.
Samsung leads while others follow
It’s not surprising that Samsung is one of the few firms that have rolled out more than one 5G phone. Recently, Samsung announced that it had taken 54% of the global market for 5G Phone. By now, the company has a list of great 5G phones, including Galaxy Fold, Galaxy A90 5G, Galaxy Note 10 Plus, as well as Galaxy S10 5G. However, only two of these, 10 Plus 5G and S10 5G) are available in the US.
6.7 million Still below the threshold
Although 6.7 million may sound like an impressive record for 5G phone, it’s far lower than the rate for Samsung’s Smartphone sales. Samsung sold about 78.2 million smartphones between September and December last year. It has a 21% share of the world market as long as smartphones are concerned.
The company is not relenting in its effort to keep dominating the market. It stated that 5G technology has even raised the bar a bit further, and the company wants to maintain its position in the smartphone and 5G technology.
Samsung is planning to roll out more 5G phones this year, as the technology becomes more available and acceptable in the world. According to Samsung, the technology is going to be very relevant in the nearest future, as it gradually replaces the 4G network.
Samsung desires to launch more 5G phones as the technology enters the mainstream. Samsung is also looking to introduce new advancements which will improve the security, performance, and speed of the Galaxy 5G phones and devices.
According to the company, speed is one of the major differences between 5G and 4G. And, it wants to use innovations to improve the overall speed of data transfer.
